Government extends control in North Darfur: spokesman

The Government of North Darfur said that the Sudanese army has asserted its control over Tabit and other areas in the state up till Tukumarre. The spokesman of the Government of North Darfur, Hafez Alpha, in an interview with Radio Dabanga said that the army defeated the movements and destroyed their vehicles. The armed forces were still chasing them, he said Monday.For his part, Ali Karbino, the overall commander of the Liberation and Justice Movement, said that the government was defeated by the movements in the battles in Tabet and Tukumarre. Karbino told Radio Dabanga that a joint force of the rebel movements destroyed more than 16 army vehicles in the most recent fighting.
