Gold diggers robbed in North Darfur’s Jebel ‘Amer
On Sunday, a number of gold diggers in the area of Jebel ‘Amer, North Darfur, were robbed by militiamen. The gunmen beat the workers, and stole more than SDG27,000 ($4,700) and an amount of gold, Sadam Hamad Mohamed, one of the victims, reported to Radio Dabanga. “We had hired a car and a driver from a militiaman, to go to Saraf Umra. When we were on our way, the driver suddenly left the road, and drove into a forest. There he, and two others carrying guns, began beating us with batons and whips, after which they stripped us of our belongings and our money. They then left into the direction of Kabkabiya town.
