Girl gang-raped in Kabkabiya, North Darfur
A 12-year-old girl was raped on Monday in Kabkabiya, North Darfur by two militiamen. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, a relative of the girl said that during the night, the men stormed one of the houses in the village of Gharra Furujiya, 10km west of Kabkabiya. After threatening the family at gunpoint, and tying them together in one place, they took the girl and alternately raped her for two hours inside the house. The militiamen left, terrorising the villagers by firing shots in the air. The severely physically and psychologically traumatised girl was taken to the health centre of Gharra Furujiya for treatment. The villagers sharply denounced the incident. They demanded from the security authorities to prosecute the perpetrators, and inflict the maximum penalty on them. File photo: A woman shows her sorrow while explaining the rape increase.
