Gereida camp suffering from lack of food, medicine, education
Displaced people in 30 camps around Gereida in South Darfur have complained of the severe deterioration in humanitarian, food, health and educational conditions across the camps. An activist from a Gereida camp explained to Radio Dabanga that the food rations have been reduced to very low amounts. He said camp residents were also affected by the expulsion of organisations working in health care as the government took over the only hospital built by the Merlin organization, stopping displaced people from accessing free medical treatment. The activist said there was also a shortage of teaching staff and equipment. He said most of the teachers are volunteers.
