Fuel crisis have spiked in the city of Nyala following a long delay in the arrival of a trade convoy, for more than ten days. The price of a gallon of gasoline jumped to 20 pounds on the black market as opposed to 11 pounds in petrol stations. The majority of stations were closed since Tuesday, with hundreds of cars lining up. The Deputy Director of Petroleum Administration in South Darfur, Jawahir Zakaria, attributed the high gasoline prices to the delay of the arrival of the regular commercial convoy, due to security procedures. He said the convoy remains in An Nuhud in North Kordofan. Besides this factor, he said, some traders have hoarded fuel for the benefit of selling at high prices.
