Four children die of disease in Central Darfur

Four children reportedly died at Nertiti hospital in Central Darfur on Monday, “as a result of diarrhoea, fever, vomiting and severe lack of health care”. A woman activist reported to Radio Dabanga the death of the four children, including a girl named Marwa Mohamed Adam, is attributable to an outbreak of malaria, diarrhoea, and malnutrition among children of the camp. She demanded that humanitarian organisations to provide medicines and food for the children. The displaced Jabalain camp near Garsila in Central Darfur have complained of an outbreak of paralysis among the adults of the camp. A sheikh of the camp reported to Radio Dabanga that three elderly displaced were paralysed and transferred to Nyala for treatment. He said that the source of the disease has not yet been identified. The sheikh requested the Ministry of Health and humanitarian organisations to send a medical team to investigate the causes of the disease.
