Food ‘withheld’ from West Kordofan students

University students in West Kordofan have accused their trust fund of withholding food and materials for personal use during the celebration of Eid El Adha.

The students of the University of El Salam in Babanusa claimed that the students’ trust fund had received sheep and in-kind materials from charitable and government entities on the occasion of Eid El Adha. The trust fund used it for the benefit of the fund instead of sharing it with the students in the dormitories.

One of the affected students told Radio Dabanga that the students that live in the dormitories, amounting to 280, could therefore not find food during Eid El Adha. “We were forced to beg for food in the neighbouring districts and with locals.”

The environment in the dormitories has deteriorated, he added. “Mosquitoes and flies spread easily here, and the drinking water is dirty or contaminated.”
