Five women gang-raped in Central Darfur’s Nierteti
Militiamen gang raped five displaced women in Central Darfur on Wednesday. “The women, working on their farms, were assaulted by a group of militiamen in the area of Mulgawa, west of Nierteti town,” a displaced woman reported to Radio Dabanga from Nierteti North camp. “The Janjaweed raped the women alternately. They then robbed them of their belongings and farming tools.” The source criticised the lack of security in the locality and the continued abuse against women. She also blamed Unamid for not protecting the displaced when they are tending their farmlands, or leave the camps to collect firewood in Nierteti locality.
