Five doctors kidnapped, released in North Darfur
The UN-African Union Mission in Darfur reported yesterday that five doctors were kidnapped on Thursday, 10 June, in Tabara, 30km west of Tawila, North Darfur. The North Darfur State Ministry of Health told the peacekeepers that the doctors had been investigating the meningitis outbreak in the state. A spokesman for the peacekeepers confirmed today to Radio Dabanga that the doctors were held only until Friday and then released. He said that one of the armed movements was possibly responsible.
