Firewood collectors killed, raped in Darfur’s East Jebel Marra
Militant herders shot dead a woman and gang-raped another in East Jebel Marra on Tuesday afternoon.
“Gunmen riding camels and wearing military uniforms attacked a group of women while they collected firewood in the area of Souri, west of Khazan Tunjur,” an eyewitness reported to Radio Dabanga.
“They seized Nafisa Siddig Ismail. When she resisted, they shot her dead on the spot, and seized an 18-year old woman instead, They raped her alternately, after which they cut her hair and scarred her face.”
“The attackers threatened to kill anyone who dares to collect firewood in what they consider their pastures,” he said.
