Speaking to Radio Dabanga a farmer reported that fire in the areas of Teiga, Kola, and Silo have destroyed entire millet, beans, and sesame crops and large tracts of grassland and forests. He said problems started when a government force made up of policemen and troops of the Central Reserve Forces (Abu Tira) were pursuing militiamen accused of killing a policeman from Elgardud district. They clashed at Teiga, west of Mershing, and the fire started as a result of the “heavy weapons used by the two parties”, the source explained.  File photo by Albert Gonzalez Farran/Unamid  Related: Fire ravages grasslands, shops in Darfur states (20 October 2013)
