Evacuation south of Darfur’s Jebel Marra ahead of ‘military operations’
Authorities have told the residents of areas south of Jebel Marra that they have to vacate their houses immediately, as military operations will take place in the area. A listener from the area who arrived at Kass on Monday told Radio Dabanga that most of the population of about ten villages south of Jebel Marra have left their homes. Others are still on their way to Kass, transporting their luggage on donkeys and horses, or on their backs. The source mentioned the villages of Gardud, Lingo, Tabufto, Hashaba, Atour, and Um Direisaaya. He called on the UN and the international community to intervene “as soon as possible” to prevent a possible massacre of the people living south of Jebel Marra by the “Rapid Support militias under the command of Hemeti”.
