EU welcomes outcome of Doha conference for Darfur peace
The European Union (EU) on Saturday expressed its welcome of the results of the stake-holders’ conference which was held in the capital of Qatar, Doha, during the end of the previous May.
The European Union (EU) on Saturday expressed its welcome of the results of the stake-holders’ conference which was held in the capital of Qatar, Doha, during the end of the previous May. The High-Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton, said through a spokesman that the conference served as a base for reaching a permanent cease-fire and permanent peace and stability in Darfur. In a press statement, Michael Mann, the spokesman of Representative Ashton, called on all the sides involved in the Darfur conflict to end the aggressive operations without any delay and sign a cease-fire agreement and make compromises that would lead to a comprehensive and permanent peace. The statement also affirmed the readiness of the EU to play an active role in following the Doha forum.
