Ethiopian UNISFA peacekeepers deployed in Abyei
On 27 June, UN Resolution 1990 (2011) was adopted, which established the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), with a deployment of up to 4,200 military personnel, 50 police personnel and appropriate civilian support. UNISFA is authorized to use force, to protect civilians and humanitarian workers, in the area of Abyei, between Sudan and South Sudan.

On Friday, 22 July, the deployment of peacekeepers Ethiopian started, in the disputed area of Abyei between the north and south Sudan. Military spokesman of the Sudanese government, Colonel Alsoarma Khaled Saad, told the French press, that Ethiopian troops began to deploy in Abyei, part of which arrived in the region Airport Kadugli.
