‘El Geneina hospital conditions disastrous’
Citizens from West Darfur have complained about a lack of health and therapeutic services as well as the environmental deterioration at El Geneina hospital. Besides, the citizens complained about the lack and high prices of medicines. A number of citizens told Radio Dabanga on Monday, 14 January, that the lack of services and environmental deterioration have caused prices to increase, to the extent that patients and their families have to pay for all services provided in the hospital; from seeing a doctor, medical examinations and surgical procedures and buying medicine as well as paying for the patient’s bed. They revealed that a laboratory examination in the hospital costs 20 Sudanese pounds and the least therapeutic cost is 80 pounds, adding that the hospital conditions can be described as “disastrous”, with only two bathrooms without doors and a number of 10 beds only. The citizens demanded the state authorities to intervene and stop the deterioration of El Geneina Hospital and upgrade its services.File photo
