El-Fasher attacks: 33 LJM men await trial
A Shala prison detainee informed Radio Dabanga that on Sunday August 26, Sudan’s National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) transferred 33 men from Tijani Sese’s Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) to Shala prison, west of El-Fasher. The men, now awaiting trial, are accused of kidnapping the Minister of Youth and Sports in El-Fasher, North Darfur on August 14. The detainee said that 35 men were arrested in relation to El-Fasher’s events, but that 33 will be brought to trial. He added the NISS is keeping the other two men in detention at the NISS office. The reason for such is not known. Besides kidnapping the Minister of Youth and Sports in August, the LJM men are also accused of abducting ministry’s employees and attacking other Darfur Regional Authority Ministries.
