East Darfur Rizeigat-Ma’aliya clash investigation concluded
The Committee entrusted with investigating the clashes between the Rizeigat and Ma’aliya tribes in East Darfur in August and September last year, has concluded its mission. During a press conference in Khartoum on Tuesday, El Nur Babikir Murkaz, chairman of the Investigation Committee revealed that it filed 308 reports about murder, abuse, damage, and destruction. The Committee also questioned a number of neutral witnesses. The Minister of Justice, Mohamed Bishara Dosa, received the final report from the chairman of the Investigation Committee. The Minister confirmed that the handling of the cases and complaints is in process. “The people affected by the armed conflict between the Rizeigat and Ma’aliya will be compensated.”He stressed that the Ministry of Justice “as a legal arm of the nation, is playing its role in coordinating, with relevant bodies, this procedural phase”.
