Three bodies, including a child’s, were found drifting in Shangil Tobaya in North Darfur on Monday. The flash floods from the heavy rains have displaced dozens of families in the area.
An activist in the area, Sadig El Mehdi, told Radio Dabanga about the discovery he did in the Shangil Tobaya valley while he was on his way to his farm.
Homes have been destroyed by the floods in Naivasha camp during the past few days, leaving dozens of displaced families homeless. El Mehdi reported that they live out in the open in a very bad humanitarian situation.
Around 700 homes were completely destroyed last week as the heavy annual rains set-in. On Saturday, nine people drowned in El Fasher locality in North Darfur, and the death toll has been rising in the rest of Sudan as well.
“These people in Naivasha have not yet received food or non-food items from the local authorities and organisations,” El Mehdi added.
