Dozens flee as militiamen threaten South Darfur villages
Dozens of families from the villages of Margoum, Dibis, Aradeiba and Kadeida, north of Kass in South Darfur, fled their homes on Sunday fearing threats by militiamen. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, one of the villagers reported that militiamen have threatened to storm the villages unless a resident of the area, suspected to have killed one of their relatives, is arrested.The commissioner of Kass has met with the parties and proposed payment of “blood money” to the relatives of the victim. They refused, however, and threatened to invade Margoum village, where the murder took place, insisting on the arrest of the offender. In response, dozens of families fled towards the town of Kass.
