Doha signatory group clashes with pro-government militia, N. Darfur -sources
Members of the Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) that signed the Doha peace agreement with the government of Sudan in 2011 clashed with pro-government militias at a Kabkabiya livestock market in North Darfur. Sources speaking to Radio Dabanga said tensions between both sides originated on Tuesday at the market when LJM elements tried stopping four militiamen from stealing the cart of the citizen Khatir Ramadan, who had his leg shot and broken. One militiaman was killed during the confrontation and the other three were detained and handed over to the local military garrison by the LJM. At 5:00pm on Wednesday, members of the militia returned to the market driving two Land Cruisers to retaliate against the killing and arrest of their colleagues.
