Doha peace agreement to be signed on July 14th
The Government and the Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) agreed to sign a final peace agreement in Doha on the 14th of July during a formal meeting with their mediator. Taj Din Niam, LJM’s chief negotiator told Radio Dabanga that they had previously agreed to settle a date for the signature, initially scheduled in the period of the 15th-20th of July.
Niam added however that they are waiting for the mediation to tackle the remaining unresolved issues before the signature date: The name of the authority’s executive body still needs to be chosen, and the proportion of integration of LJM forces into the army is yet to be established. This quota will be determined after an evaluation of their presence on the field.
