Displaced killed, beaten, robbed in Mershing, South Darfur

Two displaced were killed, and two others were wounded in two incidents in South Darfur on Friday. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, a relative of one of the deceased reported that “government-backed militiamen in military uniforms” on camels opened fire on Ishag Abdallah Yagoub and Hadi Hussein Adam when they were on their way back from Abu Hamra to Mirsheng. They died on the spot.  The militiamen stole their money and belongings, and fled. In another incident on the same day, “government-backed militiamen in military uniforms” assaulted Adam Izzeldin and Abdallah Osman Hussein south of Mershing camp, the source added. They beat and whipped both displaced, seriously injuring them, after which they robbed them of all their belongings. The relative appealed to the authorities and Unamid to protect the displaced and prosecute the offenders. File photo
