Deputy Omda of Iringa tribe slain in South Darfur
The Deputy Omda of Iringa tribe has reportedly been shot dead in the area of Um Zi’eifa, Ed El Fursan locality in South Darfur. The Omda of the tribe, Ishaq Mohamed Yahya Hussein, told Radio Dabanga that on Friday, at about midnight, four unidentified gunmen stormed into the house of Bakhit Adam Abdallah Asad, Deputy Omda of Iringa, and shot at him, killing him outright. His wife was critically injured in the attack, and has been transferred to Nyala hospital. Hussein noted that neighbours immediately formed a ‘rescue team’ that pursued the gunmen, together with the police. They managed to apprehend one of the alleged perpetrators.
