Demonstration in Kouma Locality

Dozens of people from the Ziyadiyah tribe of Kouma locality in North Darfur went out on the streets after Friday prayers. The people demanded the exemption of North Darfur’s governor Osman Mohamed Yusuf Kibir, as well as jobs for graduates from the Ziyadiyah tribe and the return of land annexed from Um Kadada and Mallit localities. A leader of the Ziyadiyah tribe, who did not reveal his name, told Radio Dabanga that they marched from the grand mosque towards the office of Kouma locality commissioner. He added that the protesters were chanting as they marched. The tribal leader said that the demonstrators delivered a memorandum to the local executive director, Musa Adam Ismail, pointing out that the memorandum demanded the exemption of Governor Osman Mohamed Yusuf Kibir, the release of tribal detainees and the disarming of tribes. The executive director of Mallit locality, Musa Adam Ismail, vowed to take the memorandum to the local and state authorities.
