Death sentence revoked for 7 men in accordance with the Doha peace agreement
The government released seven members of the Liberation and Justice Movement who had been sentenced to death. The prisoners are currently in the Port Sudan prison in Red Sea State.
The government released seven members of the Liberation and Justice Movement who had been sentenced to death. The prisoners are currently in the Port Sudan prison in Red Sea State.
The head of police of Red Sea State, Haider Ahmed Suleiman, told Radio Dabanga the prisoners were released in line with the terms of the Doha Peace Document signed by the Sudanese government with the movement led by Tijane Sese. Three other members of the Liberation and Justice Movement remain in jail because the procedures in their cases have not been completed.
The released prisoners include: Abdel Salaam Abdel Haii Osman, Ali Ahmed Hamdallah, Mohamed Abdallah Hamid, Hamadi Omar Adam, Abdel Kadir Agub Fadl, Idris Al Bushari Oshar and Mohamed Guma Abrahim.
