Darfuri students injured, 20 arrested in Babanusa, Sudan
A number of Darfuri students at the University of Peace in Babanusa, West Kordofan, suffered various injuries, 20 students were arrested and three are missing, after security forces and policemen stormed the university on Friday morning. One of the students told Radio Dabanga that security forces and policemen in vehicles stormed the university using live ammunition, tear gas, batons and air rifles to break up a sit-in organised by the students of Darfur to protest their non-exemption from tuition fees. Among the injured students, two were seriously wounded. One woman student had a leg broken, and another student suffered bullet wounds. Both have been transferred to the hospital of Babanusa for treatment. The arrested students are Esam Abdelrahman, El Dodo Abdallah Mohamed, Mohamed Hussein Ibrahim Mohamed, Khaled El Haj Adam, Hammad Ahmed Mohamed, Amani Abdallah Osman, Nasra Abdallah Hassan, Sayyida Eisa, Sara Mohamed Adam, Maisa Mohamed El Hassan, Awatif Musa Ahmed, Hiam Ali Osman, Nafisa Ahmed Hamed, Hajar Harun Abdallah, Safa Abdelqadir Mansour, Khatir Abdelrahman , Basma Ahmed Mohamed, Mahasin Mohamed Abdallah, Sala Mohamed Ali Mohamed, and Farida Abdelmawla Yusif.
