Darfuri students convicted, fined in Babanusa

The Court of Babanusa, West Kordofan, on Sunday convicted 20 students from Darfur on charges of “impeding the work of civil servants during the performance of their duty”. They were released after paying a fine of SDG2,000 ($453). This amount was raised by young people and activists in Babanusa. Mohamed Yusif, a human rights activist told Radio Dabanga that the court convicted the student Hashim Mohamed Abdallah, also from Darfur, on charges of possessing a knife. He was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment.
