Darfuri students will be considered favorably for admission at national universities under a proposal by the mediation team at the Doha talks. If the government accepts the peace agreement, twenty percent of places available for admission to national universities will be allocated to students from Darfur over a ten year period. In the Darfur region itself, however, the rule would be that 50% of the seats available at national universities would be allocated to Darfuri natives. Under the terms of the peace deal, a new mechanism would be established as part of the admissions process to examine the cases of those exempted by war. These students would also be exempted from fees for 10 years. The mediation also made proposals to facilitate the acceptance of children of displaced people, refugees and those affected by war in different localities in the states of Darfur.
