Darfuri displaced mark World Day for Human Rights

Displaced persons in Darfur, on the occasion of International Day for Human Rights, today, asked for justice and security, protection, freedoms and comprehensive peace in Darfur. The displaced people described the conditions of people in the camps as a violation of human rights.

Speaking for his people in Al Salam Camp in El Fasher, the omda Ahmed Atem said the occasion calls for the achievement of security and justice and peace in Darfur, as well as trials for war criminals. Human Rights Day is the anniversary of the UN General Assembly’s adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.

The displaced in Darfur say their rights are consistently violated in all areas. They call for displaced people to stop arrests, targeting and stalking by the government of the displaced in the camps and the rape women who go out from the camps to collect firewood. The displaced demanded mechanisms to protect human rights in Darfur.
