Darfur woman slain for donkey

Maryam Omar Ishag (35) was shot dead in East Jebel Marra on Monday when she tried to prevent armed militiamen from stealing her donkey.

Relatives of Maryam said that she went from Jinga village, 15 kilometres west of Shangil Tobaya, to collect straw and firewood. “The gunmen intercepted her and tried to take her donkey. When she resisted, they shot her dead, took her donkey and left.”
