Residents of areas of the Meidob Hills complained of lack of underground wells in the areas of Abu Kuran, Ein Basura and Dar Difa. In an interview with Radio Dabanga, one resident stated that thirst in areas of the Meidob Hills is due to front-line forces depending on the same sources of water as the residents and cattle in those areas. The resident also pointed to differences in defining whether some wells, such the well of Jebel Issa, are under control of the Water Corporation or the rebel factions, leading to negligence in renovating them.
The residents called on the government to establish a number of dams on the wadis which flow out of the heights of the Meidob Hills to solve the problem of thirst in those areas.
The Meidob Hills are located north-east of the better-known Jebel Marra range in central Darfur.
