Corruption allegations emerge from Sudanese audits
The Auditor General of Sudan has confirmed accusations against the Deputy President of the National Congress Party in Khartoum state and Sudan’s former Director of Television, of “corruption and financial irregularities”.

Auditor General Rashid Ahmed asserts that while he was Director of Television, Mohammed Hatem “squandered public money and misused resources by signing a contract with a private advertising company without following the proper procedures”.
Ahmed says that Hatem has left the national TV network with debts of SDG27 million ($4,2 million). He added that between SDG4 million and SDG5 million ($630,000 – $785,000) of public money was spent without valid documents on the strategic media training project.
The Auditor General also revealed serious financial violations in the Ministry of Environment involving the former undersecretary.
These include the spending of SDG2 million ($314,000) to import fake monitoring devices that do not conform to the proper standards.
