Commanders of warring Darfuri tribes agree on reconciliation procedures
A meeting between leaders of the Salamat, Misseriya and Taisha tribes in the locality of Shattaya in South Darfur concluded with an agreement to dismantle the armed tribesmen’s camps and to reopen the roads and markets. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, Amir Adam Digi Digi reported that a neutral committee of the Tarjam tribe succeeded in convening a two-day meeting, on 18 and 19 November, between the field commanders of the three warring tribes in the areas of Daga Dosa and Shattaya in order to make a definite end to the clashes and pave the way for a comprehensive reconciliation. Digi added that the Salamat, Misseriya and Taisha field commanders have agreed on the forming of a neutral joint committee of representatives of the three tribes. The joint committee will concentrate on resolving remaining problems between the parties.
