Chadian refugees robbed in Darfur

Several Chadian refugees from camp in Um Shalaya in Azum locality, Central Darfur, have been robbed of possessions, money and mobile phones, allegedly by pro-government militiamen A Sheikh of the camp told Radio Dabanga that militiamen attacked on Saturday evening while the refugees were gathered together to watch TV at a viewing club in the camp. “They beat the people and took their money and mobile phones. They also stole all of the electronic equipment at the viewing club. They then fired into the air. They thenbroke into the shop of refugee Osman Adam, threatened him, looted all the goods, as well as SDG 10,000 ($1,760).” In North Darfur, militiamen stole 450 sheep at gunpoint. A witness told Radio Dabanga that mounted militiamen attacked on Saturday, taking 150 sheep belonging by Yahia Abdul Karim Abdullah, 50 from Gedo Isa Abdul Majeed Adam, and 250 more from the displaced of Tawila camp.
