Central Darfur Sheikh seriously wounded in militia attack

A group of paramilitaries riding motorcycles shot and seriously wounded 70-year-old Sheikh Yousif Abdullah Bakhit of camp Jeddah for the displaced in Garsila, Central Darfur.

Another Sheikh from the camp told Radio Dabanga that gunmen accosted Sheikh Bakhit and three of his daughters as they made their way back to the camp from their farm on Sunday. The bandits were apparently intent on assaulting the tree women.

When Sheikh Yousif confronted them, they shot and seriously wounded him. He was evacuated to Garsila hospital in critical condition.

Militants driving a Land Cruiser attacked Sheikh Habib Mohamed Eisa of Khalawa of Kangol village in Deleig locality. The robbed him of SDG5,000 ($825) and fled.
