Central Darfur hospital closed after attack
The hospital of Bindisi camp, Central Darfur, closed its doors on Wednesday, after an attack by militiamen. “On Wednesday morning, three gunmen wearing military uniforms stormed the office of the medical director of the hospital. They demanded medicines,” a staff member of the hospital told Radio Dabanga. “When the director told them to form a queue, to properly hand them the medicines, they locked him up in one of the hospital rooms, and started shooting into the air. The nurses and visitors immediately fled from the hospital.” After the gunmen left, the hospital administration evacuated the patients, and temporarily closed the hospital, the staff member said. He added that the camp elders submitted a memorandum to Unmaid, requesting the allocation of guards for the hospital.
