Cattle ruin crops on Central Darfur farmland
Cattle released by armed herders on farmland in Zalingei locality, Central Darfur, on Sunday ruined all the crops. Yousif Yahya Yousif, a farmer from the Hamidiya camp for the displaced in Central Darfur, reported to Radio Dabanga that the cows destroyed all the crops on his farmland in the area of Barnaga, north of the camp. “The herders chased me away at gunpoint, when I protested. They threatened to kill me, if I ever return.” He said that the assault was reported to the camp leaders and Unamid, and called on the local authorities and the UN-AU peacekeepers to protect the farmers in the region.
