‘Border closure costs Sudan $7 billion’: Dep. Minister

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kamaleldin Ismail, has said that the closure of the border with South Sudan has caused the country business losses amounting to up to $7 billion.
Speaking to Parliament in Omdurman on Monday, he said that “Sudan is affected significantly by the closure of the border with the State of South Sudan, which has resulted in the halt in trade between the two countries.”
He added that his Ministry is currently in discussions with South Sudan about a re-opening of the border.
