Birkat Seira market looted, North Darfur
Militiamen plundered the market of Birkat Seira in North Darfur on Sunday. “For the second time in less than a week government-backed militiamen attacked Birkat Seira,” a witness told Radio Dabanga. “Janjaweed on camels and horses stormed the market of Birkat Seira at 8pm on Sunday, and pillaged the shops. The losses are estimated at thousands of Sudanese pounds.” “The traders who have been most affected are Bashar Karina, Mohamed Abakar Idris, Abu El Gasim Ali Yousif, El Ghali Abakar Yousif, Izeldin Adam, Abakar Ali, and Haidar Abdallah Yousif.” The witness added that the attackers were the same men who looted El Wehda neighbourhood in the east of Birkat Seira last Thursday.
