Belail residents demand authorities stop selling land
Residents of Belail locality in South Darfur demand the local authorities immediately stop selling their land. Sources said to Radio Dabanga that those wasting local resources must be held accountable and halt their activities. They said land in Kalma, Habub, Fiju, Deraib El Rih and Yao Yao was being sold off by local government under the pretext of planning, but in reality was being sold to people that live outside the state with no development carried out. They said the money collected from this ‘planning’ went to the pockets of certain people and not back into local development.
