Basic school stripped in Darfur’s East Jebel Marra
On Monday evening, the Tugumari Basic School, located 10km west of Tabit town in East Jebel Marra, was pillaged. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, a teacher of the school said that on Tuesday morning they were surprised to find the school entirely stripped of its contents. “Not only the furniture and the textbooks were gone, even the doors, windows, and the zinc roofs had been stolen.” “This kind of theft has been witnessed too in Shangil Tobaya, and El Fasher,” the teacher added. He urged the authorities to persecute the thieves and bring them to justice. File photo: A basic school classroom in Labado village, East Darfur (Albert González Farran/Unamid)
