Sudan’s president Omar Al Bashir appointed Al-Hadi Bushra as the new governor of the Blue Nile state on Wednesday.The appointment comes a week after former governor Malik Aggar was sacked from his position. Malik Aggar, leader of the opposition party Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), had been elected to the post in earlier polls.
Blue Nile state has been witnessing clashes between the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA), the armed wing of the SPLM-N, and the government of Sudan since September 2.
Major-general Yahya Mohammed Khair had been filling in as the interim governor since Aggar’s dismissal.
