Attack on doctor in Central Darfur, patients flee hospital

Patients, their visitors, and personnel of the Deleig hospital, in Wadi Salih locality, Central Darfur on Sunday fled from the hospital when a gunman attempted to kill a doctor. One of the patients told Radio Dabanga that a militiaman named Hafiz Mohamed on Sunday morning shot at doctor Mustafa Mohamed Bashar with a C-3 rifle. Bashar is a doctor at the hospital of Garsila who had come to treat patients at the Deleig hospital. Several visitors stood up to the attacker, firing shots in the air, and prevented him from killing the doctor. The patient could not tell the reason behind the attack. The management of the Deleig hospital closed the hospital after the incident. It opened again on Monday evening. The witness demanded from the authorities to put an end to the attacks and abuses of “government-backed militiamen” and bring the offenders to justice.
