‘Alms embezzled in Saraf Umra, North Darfur’
Displaced in North Darfur’s Saraf Umra locality have accused the locality commissioner of corruption.
The coordinator of the Saraf Umra camps, Sheikh Abdelrazeg Yousef, told Radio Dabanga that the displaced in the locality are convinced that Commissioner Hammad Sallal has embezzled SDG350,000 ($57,200). The amount was allocated by the Zakat [Muslim alms] Chamber of Kabkabyia to the displaced in Saraf Umra.
The camp coordinator said that the Commissioner of Saraf Umra received the amount in front of notables of Saraf Umra and camp elders weeks ago. “Yet, the money has not been distributed to the displaced so far.”
