African Union delegation visits North Darfur
The African Union Peace and Security Council sent a delegation to North Darfur for a one-day field visit. The trip to Kebkabiya, 140 kilometres west of El Fasher, followed a briefing with top UNAMID officials. The AU delegation was briefed on UNAMID activities in the area and met local authorities.
The African Union Peace and Security Council sent a delegation to North Darfur for a one-day field visit. The trip to Kebkabiya, 140 kilometres west of El Fasher, followed a briefing with top UNAMID officials. The AU delegation was briefed on UNAMID activities in the area and met local authorities.The delegation was headed by the Ambassador of the Republic of Mali at AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Amadou N’Diaye. The African Union has joint responsibility for the UNAMID peackeepers, since being relieved of sole responsibility for peacekeeping in Darfur in 2008.
