Abu Delik displaced families leave UNAMID HQ
120 families recently displaced from Abu Delik and Sag Al Nagam, have left the UN/African Union Mission in Darfur base they were seeking refuge in, inside Zam Zam camp near El Fasher, in North Darfur. A representative of the families said they left after the chief of police and head of UNAMID met with camp leaders and pledged to provide security to the families in the camp, as well as food, water and shelter. He said humanitarian organisations started registering new arrivals on Sunday, and around 10 families a day are currently arriving from Abu Delik and Sag Al Nagam. The families were displaced from Abu Delik and Sag Al Nagam when government forces stormed the areas searching for rebel groups. On arrival to Zam Zam camp, Abu Tira (central reserve forces) attacked the families, forcing them to take shelter at UNAMID headquarters last Tuesday. The families refused to leave the base until their security could be guaranteed.
