Abducted transport head released in South Darfur
Elements of the paramilitary Border Guards on Wednesday released the head of the transport services in South Darfur’s capital Nyala. They had abducted him on 27 April. After more than two weeks in captivity, El Taher Ali El Taher, head of the transport services in Nyala, was released after the payment of a SDG50,000 ($8,700) ransom, a friend of El Taher told Radio Dabanga. The kidnappers had initially demanded a ransom of SDG150,000 ($26,000), but after negotiations between them and El Taher’s friends, the amount was reduced.
