Abducted Chinese engineer released in West Darfur
The Deputy Governor of West Darfur state, Abu Elgasim Elamin Baraka, has announced that the Chinese engineer who was kidnapped three weeks ago by unknown assailants has been released The engineer is an employee of one of the companies working on the western part of the Ingaz road, connecting El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur, with Zalingei, capital of Central Darfur. Baraka reported that “shared efforts by official and popular institutions” resulted in the release of the engineer without paying any ransom or making any deal with the kidnappers. He revealed that a “security plan” will be implemented by Unamid and the West Darfur state government to resolve the insecurity in the state and stop the attacks on Unamid troops and international organisations.
