Eight people have been killed and many more injured and abducted by rampant Abbala militiamen in South Darfur and west Jebel Marra.
In one incident, Khadija Sadekun, Fatima Abdullah, and Kltom Mohammed died, five others were wounded, and six abducted, on Tuesday when a band of Abbala herders attacked a group of civilians in Mershing locality.
A witness told Radio Dabanga that the Abbala opened fire on a group of citizens who were on their way returning after shopping at the Kdeneir market. The attackers robbed the people of their goods, mobile phones and money.
Troops for the military garrison stationed to protect Kdeneir intervened and exchanged fire with the militiamen, but they were not able to apprehend them, nor could they free the abductees.
Lippe
In the village of Lippe, north of Mershing, Abbala militiamen severely wounded the Imam of the local mosque, Sheikh Ibrahim, and abducted his young sons Mohamed (11) and Hitham (7).
A witness told Radio Dabanga that a group of Abbala arrived at the village, ostensibly in search of missing cattle. When they questioned Sheikh Ibrahim, he told them he did not know who had taken the cattle. The opened fire on him, and snatched he two sons. They left the Sheikh in a serious condition.
Falluja
On Friday, Abbala herdsmen kidnapped five farmers in the Fallujah area. The herdsmen were in search of nine missing camels. When they failed to locate them, they found Yaha Bakar Mohammad (34), Abdelmouni Mohamed Omar Abakkar (28), Moor isac said (30), Abdlurahman Mohammad (42), and Hoosain Kono (41) working their fields near Fallujah.
A witness told Radio Dabanga that the kidnappers have demanded a ransom for the release of the five, but no further details are known as yet.
