Eight people were killed, 20 wounded and 20 are still missing — all of them Darfuris migrants who escaped from Libya – in clashes in Shusha Camp in Tunisia. The fighting broke out between Tunisian order forces and civilians on the one side; and residents of the camp from different countries on the other side. The camp residents initially led a protest against the deterioration of conditions in the camp. In an interview with Radio Dabanga, Saeed Sambo described the situation of those who fled as ‘terrible’ and stated that they were now living in the open air after the burning of the camp and their belongings. He called on to the United Nations to transport them to a safer country.
Editor’s Note: Sudan Tribune website reports that 10 people died in the clashes, not 8, but that only 2 of them were Darfuris.
